Be more concerned with your character
than your reputation,
because your character is what you really are,
while your reputation
is merely what others think you are.
I do not wish to treat friendships daintily, but with the roughest courage. When they are real, they are not glass threads or frost-work, but the solidest thing we know.
If you can''t have faith in what is held up to you for faith, you must find things to believe in yourself, for a life without faith in something is too narrow a space to live.
